Summer English Course for BUT Employees (Level B2/C1)

The course will be held in two blocks: a morning block (3 × 45 minutes) and an afternoon block (3 × 45 minutes).

The classes will be taught by Mgr. Mgr. Soňa Pazderová and Mgr. Eva Punčochářová, who will alternate between morning and afternoon sessions.

The lessons will take place at the CVP building, Purkyňova 464/118, room no. 7.15.

The maximum capacity for each course is 15 participants.

Employees will attend the courses as part of their regular working hours.

Daily schedule (approximate: 6 hours of lessons per day + 1 hour of self-study)

9:00-10:30 - Conversation block (topic of the day)

10:45-11:30 - Listening and speaking (practical exercises)

13:00-14:30 - Interactive activities (role-play, debates, simulations)

14:45-15:30 - Grammar and vocabulary in context

Homework (short video, reading, or presentation preparation)

Day 1: Self-presentation and Small Talk

Phrases for introducing yourself and others

Basics of small talk (weather, work, hobbies)

Role-play: first meeting, networking

Target vocabulary: adjectives, questions, conjunctions

Day 2: Everyday Situations and Practical Conversation

At a restaurant, at the airport, in a shop, at the doctor's

Listening to real-life recordings + responding

Role-playing scenarios in small groups

Useful phrases: requesting, ordering, asking for help

Day 3: Arguing and Expressing Opinions

Expressing agreement/disagreement

Debates in pairs and groups

Formal vs. informal language

Argument structure (Firstly, I believe..., However...)

Day 4: Problem Solving and Negotiating

Phrases for making suggestions, compromises, and requests

Simulations: lost luggage, complaints, rescheduling

Using modal verbs (should, might, could)

Day 5: Summary and Presentation

Short individual or group presentations

Simulated meeting or interview

Feedback (peer + tutor)
